The book explains in clear terms the theory that underpins magnetic resonance so that the capabilities and operation of MRI systems can be fully appreciated and maximized. This third edition captures recent advances, and coverage includes: parallel imaging techniques, functional imaging techniques and new sequences such as balanced gradient echo. Building on the success of the first two editions, the authors have now re-conceptualized the design of the book.

Chapter 3, for example, is SE pulse sequences. When it introduces fast spin echo, it tells the reader to skip to chapter 5 and 6 then come back. I understand the need for that, but it should be organized so the reader doesn't have to skip forward and come back. Apr 11, Heidi Scholl rated it really liked it.
watch Has all you need to know about MRI. Jul 10, Kevin rated it liked it. Overall, a useable textbook, but the organization is a little odd.
The intro Chapter discusses the theoretical basics, which could be expanded, but the hardware basics aren't discussed until much later in the book. The second edition of MRI in Practice continues to provide a comprehensive introduction to MRI, describing the essential concepts in a clear and accessible style.
The physics theory of MRI is explained in detail and set out in an uncomplicated manner. The text has been thoroughly revised and updated with many new illustrations and images. Key topics including K Space and Echo Planar Imaging have been fully expanded to take into account urrent practices. The new edition retains the popular chapter format, which presents key points at the outset, followed by learning points and a questions section to help readers evaluate their comprehension of the text.
